PHAT Energy's Solar Power Sales program

PHAT Energy's Solar Power Sales program is an introductory, intensive one-week program which uses the teaching outline of the introductory NABCEP certification program. Solar Power Sales leads to a basic certification in the field of solar system sales, and is a pre-requisite for anyone with no energy systems sales background who wishes to join PHAT Energy; however the completion of the program is not a guarantee of employment with PHAT Energy.

The program is not only meant to teach, but also to test those who believe that they are ready to sell renewable energy solutions. Our program covers utility rebates and Federal Tax Credit issues, solar cash-flow modeling, solar installation, solar panel and inverter functionality and variances, California Energy Commission ratings, solar customer acquisition methods, solar sales presentation methods, system design, permit and installation issues, California contractor’s laws regarding consumer rights, and solar sales success methods, among other things.

One must be invited in to the program by applying via the presentation of an introductory letter and a resume; a good candidate will be invited to an interview, and the qualified candidates will be invited into the next class. All who are invited to take the class and complete it receive a certification as well as an industry letter of introduction. However, only a minor percentage of those who take the class get selected, because Solar Power Sales is also a competition among candidates who wish to be offered a spot on the PHAT Energy sales team.

PHAT Energy selects candidates for the class based on their proven sales background and commitment to the industry, their presentation and style, and their drive.

PHAT Energy selects class graduates for its Sales Team based on outstanding performance in the class, both in the technical and field sections.

Candidates with existing, demonstrable energy systems sales experience may not have to take this class.
